
Throughout time and still to this day, true prophets are known are ones who speak truth to power. These special individuals serve as intermediaries for God and were not accepted by those who disagreed with them. True prophets often suffer persecution and speaks true about the future. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is a prime example of a true prophet sent directly from God.
In Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop” speech in Memphis, Tennessee, on April 3rd, 1968, he talks to city sanitation workers on strike. His words came true almost instantly. In his speech he proclaims that he has been to the Promise and and “that we, as a people, will get to the Promised Land”. Less than 24 hours after this speech, King was assassinated by James Earl Ray. He suffered the same fate as many true prophets do. When people hear the truth they do not want to agree with, they unfortunately turn to violence.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is almost the exact opposite of a false prophet. False prohets preach that everything in the world is going well, they are bad moral examples, and steal words from another. Dr. MLK Jr. was an amazing speaker who caught the attention of millions with his original inspiring speeches. Such as, “I Have a Dream”, “The Other America”, and “Our God is Marching On”. In all of these he speaks about the corruptness in America and the mistreatment of African-Americans. Dr. MLK Jr., was almost constantly a great example in which many people around the world looked up to.
Dr. Martin Luther King was most certainty a true prophet. He preached the true about the future, unfortunately suffered prosecution, and was most definitely sent by God. Dr. MLK Jr., was always a great moral example and always used original content. His legacy lives on today and will forever as one of the most recent true prophets.
